265 rule and Government and against the form of the Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and provided Thereupon it was Commanded the Sheriffe of Somerset County that he Should take the said Hannah Goldsmith Late of Somerset County Spinster if she should be found in his Bailywick and her should safe keep so that he might have her body before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at dividing Creek the third Tuesday of June Ann Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty Eight to answer unto his said Lordship of the Indictment afd for fornication &.a And now to witt the third Tuesday of June before his Lordships Justices at dividing Creek Came the afd Hannah Goldsmith in her proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment afd and saith that he Cannot deny but that she is Guilty of the premisses in the Indictment afd Specified in manner & form as by the Indictment afd above against her Supposed and the premisses afd Expressly acknowledgeth and makes Oath that a Certain john Griffin is the Begetter of the Child she stands Indicted for and is willing to pay her fine for the same &a Whereupon all and Singular the premisses by the Court here Seen heard and fully understood it is Considered that the afd Hannah Goldsmith pay unto his Lordship for her fine for and by occasion of the premisses afd by the Court here upon her Imposed whereof in form afd she is Convicted thirty shillings Curr.t Money of Maryland (to the Use of the County afd) and that the said Hannah Goldsmith be taken to Satisfie his said Lordship of the fine afd &a Whereupon the said Hannah Goldsmith is ordered to give Security for the payment of the Severall Officers Fees due on the Indictm.t by occasion of the premisses afd Whereupon a Certain William Gray of Manocan in Somerset County present here in Court in his proper person undertook for to pay the Severall Officers Fees due on the Indictment afd In Case the said Hannah Goldsmith doth not pay the same &a Likewise the Same Hannah Goldsmith is Ordered to give Security for ^her^ appearance before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at Dividing Creek the third Tuesday of August next following to Give Evidence on behalfe of his Lordship against the afd John Griffin &a Thereupon the said Hannah Goldsmith pr with William Stoughton of Somerset County Gent her Security both present here in Court |
