March Court            1737                243

Maryland in manner and form as the aforesaid Edmond and Thomas above against them have
declared            Therefore it is Considered that the aforesaid Edmund Bayly and Thomas Evans
recover against the aforesaid William Jackson and Tabitha his wife their debt afd and their
damages by occasion of their detaining of the same debt to Three hundred and thirty Seven
337          pounds of tobacco to the same Edmund and Thomas of their assent by the Court here
adjudged with Stay of Execution untill the first day of August Court next following and the afd W.m &
Tabitha in Mercy &a

planter otherwise called Richard Brooks of Somerset
County in the province of Marry was summoned
to answer unto Charles Stockley and Comfort his wife lately Called Comfort
Ewell of accomack County in vergenia of a plea that he render unto them one
hundred pounds Currt money of Vergenia of the value of one hundred
and thirty three pounds Currt money of maryland which to them he owes
and unjustly detains &.a

    And Whereupon the said Charles and Comfort by Geo: Douglas
their attorney say that whereas the said Richard on the eleventh day of
December Anno Dom seventeen hundred thirty and four at the County af.d by
his certain writing obligatory which the said Charles and Comfort sealed with the
seal of the said Richard here into Court bring whose date is the day and year af.d did
acknowledge himself to be held and firmly ^bound^ unto the af.d Comfort while she was sole
by the name of Comfort Ewell of Accomack County in Verginia in the af.d sum of
one hundred pounds Currt money of Verginia (being of the value of one hundred
and thirty three pounds Currt money of Maryland) and to the payment thereof
well and truely to be made when he the said Richard should be thereof afterwards
required did bind himself his heirs Ex.rs and Adm.rs by the said writing obligatory
Nevertheless the said Richard the said one hundred pounds Currt money of
Verginia of the value of one hundred and thirty three pounds Currt money of maryland
to the said Comfort when she was sole did not render nor to the said Charles and Comfort
since the espousals between them celebrated hath he the same rendred but the same
