Command was given to the sherriffe of Somerset County
that he should take Charles Ramsey late of Somerset County
planter if he should be found in his bailywick and him ^should^ safe
keep so that he might have his body before the Justices of his Lordship County
Court of Somerset to be held at deviding Creek in the same County the third tuesday
of March Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and thirty seven to answer unto
Sabastaian Delastatius of a plea of trespass upon the Case &.a

And hereupon the said Sabastian Delastiatius declared against the said Charles
Ramsey in the plea af.d in form following vizt            Somerset ss  Charles Ramsey
Late of Somerset County planter was attached to answer unto Sabastian Delastatius
of a plea of trespass upon the Case &.a

And Whereupon the said Sabastian by George Douglas his attorney complains
that whereas the said Charles Ramsey after the first day of may Anno Dom
seventeen hundred and five (to witt) on the fifth day of July one thousand seven
hundred thirty ^and^ seven at Somerset County af.d within the Jurisdiction of this Court
did make his certain note in writing Called a promissary note with his proper hand
subscribed bearing date the same day and year last mentioned and the note af.d
to the said Sabastian Delastatius then and there deliver'd by which said note the
same Charles Ramsey did promise to pay unto the said Sabastian Delastatius
or his order seven thousand good Green Cyprus rough Shingles of the length of twenty
one Inches and a sufficient or reasonable breadth upon all demands att a
Convenient Landing upon pocomoke River for value received and by reason
thereof as also by vertue of the statute in that case lately made and provided the
same Charles Ramsey became chargeable to pay to the said Sabastian Delastatius
the said seven thousand shingles according to the tenor of the said note and so therewith
chargeable being the af.d Charles Ramsey afterwards (to witt the af.d
fifth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and thirty
seven af.d within the Jurisdiction af.d upon himself did assume and to the
same Sabastian Delastatius then and there did faithully promise to pay the
quantity of Shingles af.d according to the tenor of the said note  Nevertheless
the said Charles Ramsey his promise and assumption af.d in form af.d made
