the twenty first day of March Anno Dom Seventeen hundred thirty and Seven before Robert King Esq.r and his associates the said Lord Proprietary his Justices of the Same County Court and for the Same Lord Proprietary doth give the Same Justices here to understand and be informed that the Minister Vestry Men and Church Wardens of all hollows parish in the County aforesaid the tenth day of June Ann Dom Seventeen hundred thirty and Seven at the parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court suspecting then and thereof Lewdness and Incontinency Humphry Chapman of the same parish and County planter and Martha Handlin of the same parish and County being then and yet at the place af.d the wife of Patrick Handlin (the said Humphry and Martha then and still residing and living within the said parish County and Jurisdiction) did cause notice to be given unto the af.d Humphry and Martha to appear before them the said Minister Vestry and Church Wardens on the tenth Day of July in the said year last mentioned at a vestry then held by them in the parish Church of the said parish in the parish and County af.d And that the said Humphry and Martha then and there appeared before the said Minister Vestry and Church Wardens (the same Humphry and Martha having on the said tenth day of July in the said Year last mentioned Notice given them so to do) and the same Humphry and Martha were acquainted then and there by the said Minister Vestry and Church Wardens of the suspicion that was had of Incontinency of them the said Humphry and Martha and were admonished then and there by the same Minister Vestry and Church Wardens from accompanying together and frequenting the Company of each other the said Humphry and Martha having not excused or acquitted themselves of the grounds of the said suspicion in such Manner as the said Minister Vestry and Church Wardens did approve and the af.d attorney doth give the Justices here further to understand and be informed that the af.d Humphry Chapman of the said parish and County planter did afterwards to wit the first Day of august Ann Dom seventeen hundred thirty and seven af.d and divers other times as well before as since at the parish af.d in the County af.d and within the Jurisdiction of this Court contrary to and after the Admonition af.d cohabit with and frequent the Company of the said Martha contrary to the form of the Act of Assembly in such Case lately made and provided and against the peace of the said Lord proprietary that now is his good Rule and Government and wherefore the same Attorney of the said Lord proprietary for the said Lord proprietary prayeth |
