Oath of Twelve Jurors being presented that Jeremiah Carey Late of Allhollows parish in Somerset County
planter the last day of September Ann Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty Se^ven^ at the
parish afd in the County afd within the Jurisdiction of this Court did Commit fornication with a Certain
Ann Hughs and then and there had Carnall knowledge of her body and did begett then and there a bastard
Child on the body of her the Same Ann Hughs to the high displeasure of Almighty God
to the Evill Example of all others in Such Case offending Contrary to the peace of the Said Lord prory
that now is his good rule and Government and against the form of the act of assembly in
such Case made and provided &a

                                     Thereupon it is Commanded the Sheriffe of Somerset County that he should
take the aforesaid Jeremiah Carey if he Should be found in his bailywick so that he might
have his body before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset now here Sitting
at dividing Creek in the Same County this Instant third Tuesday of March to answer unto
his said Lordship of and Concerning his Committing of Fornication with the afd Ann Hughs &a

    And now to witt the third Tuesday of March being that Same term before his said
Lordships Justices at dividing Creek Came the said Jeremiah Carey in his proper person &
had a hearing of the Indictment afd and saith that he Cannot deny but that he is Guilty of
the premisses in the Indictment afd Specified in manner & form as by the Indictment afd
above against him supposed and the premisses afd Expressly Acknowledgeth and is
willing to pay his fine for the fact afd &a      Whereupon all and Singular the premisses
by the Court here seen heard and fully understood   It is Considered that the afd Jeremiah
Carey pay unto his Lordship the Lord Proprietary for his fine by the Court there upon him Imposed
thirty Shillings Curr.t Money of Maryland (to the Use of the County afd) and that the said
Jeremiah Carey be taken to Satisfie his said Lordship of the fine afd &a

       Whereupon it is Ordered by the Court here that the Said Jeremiah Carey give Security for the
payment of the Severall Officers Fees due on the Indictmt afd   Thereupon the said Jeremiah
Carey with Thomas Slocomb Late of Somerset County Taylor his Security both present herein Court
in their proper persons acknowledged themselves Indebted unto the Severall Officers of Somerset
County Court that hath a right to any fee or fees on the Indictment afd in five hundred pounds
of tobacco of their bodys goods or Chattles Lands or tenements to the Use of the Severall Officers
their heirs or assigns to be made and Levied      In Case the said Jeremiah Carey doe not pay &
Satisfie unto the Severall ^Officers^ afd the Just and rightfull fee or fees due on the Indictment afd &a
