aforesaid   Thereupon Arthur Warwick of Somerset County planter present herein Court in his
proper person undertook for the said Sarah Trewitt and acknowledged himselfe Indebted
unto the severall Officers of Somerset County Court that hath a right to any Fee or Fees
on the Indictment afd in five hundred pounds of tobacco of his body goods or Chattells Lands
or tenements to the Use of the Severall Officer or Officers their heirs or assignes to be made &
Levied  In Case the said Sarah Trewitt do not pay and Satisfie unto the Severall
Officers in the County afd their Just and right full fee or fees on the Indictment &a

Somerset ss  Memorand.m that at a Sessions of the peace of his Lordship the
Right Honrble the Lord proprietary of the province of Maryland held at
Dividing Creek in Somerset County the third Tuesday of November Ann Dom
one thousand seven hundred and thirty seven before his Lordships Justices the peace in the same
County to keep assigned by the oath of Twelve Jurors being presented that Ann Hughs late of all
Hallows parish in the County af.d spinster the last day of September Ann Dom seventeen hundred
thirty and seven at the parish af.d in the County af.d and within the Jurisdiction of this Court
did Commit Fornication with a certain person to the Jurors af.d unknown and did permit the same
unknown person then and there to have carnal knowledge of her body and to beget then and there
a bastard Child on the body of her the same Ann to the high Displeasure of Almighty God
to the evil Example of all others in such case offending contrary to the peace of the said Lord proprietary
that now is his good rule and goverment and against the form of the Act of Assembly
in such case lately made and provided &a
                                                                      Thereupon Command was given to the Sheriffe
of Somerset County that he Should take the said Ann Hughs late of Somerset County Spinster if
she Should be found in his bailywick and her should safe keep so that he might have her
before the Justices of his Lordships County Court of Somerset to be held at dividing Creek the
third Tuesday of March Ann Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty Seven to answer
unto his ^said Lordship^ of and Concerning of her Committing of fornication &a   And now to witt the third Tuesday
of March that Same Term before his Lordships Justices at dividing Creek Cometh the said Ann Hughs in
her proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment afd who thereupon says that of the premisses aforesaid
she is Guilty thereof and the premisses in the Indictment afd Expressly Confesseth
and maketh Oath that Jeremiah Carey is the father of the Child she Stands Indicted for and is
