And the af.d Charles Ramsey by William Beckingham his attorney Cometh
and defendeth the force and Injury when &.c and saith that he Cannot deny the
action af.d of the af.d John Atkinson nor but that the writing obligatory
af.d is the deed of the same Charles Ramsey nor but that he oweth the same
John Atkinson the af.d one hundred seventy eight pounds Currt money of
maryland and eight hundred and fifty pounds of tobacco in manner ^and form^ as the af.d
John above against him declared &c 
                                                            Therefore it is Considered that the
af.d John Atkinson recover against the af.d Charles Ramsey his debt af.d
and his damages by occasion of the detaining the same debt to
340                                    pounds of tobacco to the same John of his assent
by the Court here adjudged with stay of execution untill the twentieth day
of august then next following and the af.d Charles in mercy &.c

County planter otherwise called Alexander Thornes
of Somerset County was summoned to answer unto Joseph
Macclester of a plea that he render unto him the sum of seventeen hundred thirty two
pounds of good sound tobacco which unto him he owes and unjustly detains &a

And Whereupon the same Joseph by William Goldsborough his
attorney saith that whereas the af.d Alexander the second day of november Anno
Dom seventeen hundred thirty and seven at Somerset County af.d by his
certain writing obligatory had granted himself to be bound unto the af.d Joseph
in the af.d sum of seventeen hundred thirty two pounds of good sound tobacco
to be paid unto the said Joseph when thereof afterwards he should be required

Nevertheless the af.d Alexander altho' often required the af.d sum of good sound
tobacco unto the same Joseph hath not rendred but that unto him heitherto to render
altogether hath refused and still doth refuse to the damage of the same Joseph
three thousand pounds of like Tobacco and thereof he bringe^th^ suit &.a and doth bring
hereinto Court the writing obligatory af.d which the debt af.d in form af.d doth
                                                                                                                testify
