           November Court                1737                143

being the fifteenth day of the same month anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and thirty seven
before the af.d Justices Cometh the af.d William Conner in his proper person according to a
Certain Recognizance by him and his security in that part before acknowledged and had
a hearing of the Indictment af.d saith that he Cannot deny but that he is guilty of the
trespass and assault af.d in the Indictment af.d Specifyed above upon himself Imposed
in manner and form as by the Indictment af.d above against him supposed   Whereupon
all and singular the premisses by the Court here seen heard and fully understood  It
is Considered by the Court here that the af.d William Conner pay unto his Lordship the
Lord proprietary for his fine by the Court here upon him Imposed for and by occasion of
the premisses af.d whereof in form af.d he is Convict ten shillings Curr.t money of maryland
and that the af.d W.m be taken to satisfie his said Lordship of the fine af.d &.a

                                  The Jurors for the right Honourable
the Lord proprietary that now is for the body of Somerset
County afd upon their Oath do present that Marsala Fagan
late of all hollows parish in the County af.d Spinster the last day of October Anno
Dom seventeen hundred thirty and seven at the parish af.d in the County af.d within
the Jurisdiction of this Court in and upon a certain Joyce Bell of the same County in
the peace of God and of the said Lord proprietary then and there being with force and
arms an assault did make and the same Joyce then and there did beat wound and
evilly treat so that of her life it was much despaired and other harms to her then
and there did to the great damage of the same Joyce and against the peace of the
said Lord proprietary that now is his good rule and Goverment &.a
Testes   Joyce Bell, John Scarbrough         On the foregoing Bill of Indictment it
was Endorsed vizt         Ignoramus John Waters foreman

Now to witt the Third Tuesday of November being the fifteenth day of the Same month
Ann Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty Seven before the Justices of his Lordships
County Court of Somerset at dividing Creek Came the afd Marsala Fagan in her
proper person according to a Certain Recognizance by her and her securitys in that part
