      Novem Court          1737                    135

Dom One thousand Seven hundred and thirty Seven that Same term before the Justices
of his Lordship the right honrble the Lord proprietary at dividing Creek in the same County
Came the afd Jane Andrews in her proper person and had a hearing of the Indictment afd
and saith that she Cannot gainsay but that she is guilty of the premisses in the Indictment
afd Specified above upon her Imposed in manner and form as by the Indictment afd
above against her Supposed but refuseth to declare the father of the Child she stands
Indictedmt for &.a   Whereupon all and Singular the premisses by the Court here seen
heard and fully understood.   It is Considered by the Justices here that the afd Jane
Andrews be whipt at the publick whiping post with tenn stripes on the bare back
well Laid on untill the blood appear and that she be taken &a  thereupon as to the
Corporall punishment afd Command is given to the Sheriff of Somerset County that he doe thereof
Immediate Execution by whiping of the said Jane Andrews at the publick whiping post
with ten stripes on the Bare back well Laid on untill the blood appear &.a and afterwards in
the same Court Came ye said Sheriffe and returned that he had done the Execution of Judgmt afd
as to the Corporall punishm.t afd he was Commanded &a   whereupon it is ordered by
the Court here that the said Jane Andrew return to the Service of John Wortherby her master
and that ye said John Wortherby return the said James Andrews to the Justices of the
County Court or the Sheriffe of the County at the Expiration of her Servitude to reemburst to
the county afd the Severall Officers their fees due by occasion of the premises afd &a

Somerset sst  Memorandum att a Session of the peace of his Lordship
the right honourable the Lord proprietary of the province of Maryland
held at dividing Creek in Somerset County on the third tuesday of June to
witt the twenty ^first^ day of the same month Anno Dom one thousand seven hundred and
thirty seven before Robert King Gentleman and others his associates Justices of his the
said Lord proprietary the peace in the County af.d to Conserve and also divers feloneys
trespasses and other Malefesances in the same County Committed to hear and determine
assigned by the oath of W.m Holland and twelve others being presented that Margaret Caldwell
late of Stepney parish in the County af.d Spinster the tenth day of may Anno Dom seventeen
hundred thirty and seven at the parish af.d in the County af.d and within the Jurisdiction
of this Court did commit fornication with a Certain person to the Jurors af.d unknown and did
