    State of Maryland
    Talbot County to wit
 I hereby Certify all men by these presents
that William Jenkins of Talbot
County Came & Proved to my satisfaction that the Bearer
hereof Philamon Chastain a Black man about fifty
six years of age five feet seven Inches high with a
scar on the right corner of his upper lip was raised in the
County af.d is the indentured person maintained
by Peter Barnett in the year 1800  I witness whereof
I hereto set my hand and affix the public
seal of my office this 2 Ags.t 1808

State of Maryland  Talbot County to wit  I hereby certify
that Bennett Buckley a respectable citizen of the
County and State aforesaid Came and proved to
my satisfaction that the bearer hereof a black
Man who calls himself Cesar James and who
is now about thirty years of age five feet six
Inches high with a large scar on the upper part
of his left Breast also one other scar on his
right thumb well made and of a dark complexion
is the Identical negro man named in a
manumission from John Dickenson to sundry
negroes duly executed and recorded among the
Land record Books of Talbot County afos.d
                      In Testimony &.a this 15th of
                      July 1809      J Loockerman
