 I hereby Certify that Jeremiah
Hopkins of the County & State
       afsd Came and proved to my Satisfaction that
       the bearer hereof negro Joseph alias Jos Hopkins
       was born free and raised in the County and State afsd
       the said Jos alias Jos Hopkins is now about was 22
       years of age on the 1.st day of June last ^of a very dark complexion^ is Five
       Feet Eight inches and an half high  has one large scar
       or lump on the back of his head one other scar on both of
       the fore finger of his left hand occasioned by a Cut

       named martin but who calls himself
       Martin Dickinson who is now about

       small scar directly over his right
       eye) is the identical person manumitted
       & set free by John Dickinson of the
       County afsd       In Testimony &.c this 12 Ap.l
