State of maryland
Talbot County to wit
I hereby certify that John Redgrave
of the County and State aforesaid Came and proved
to my satisfaction that the bearer hereof
here of a Bright mulatto man who calls himself
Perry Brown and who is now about
25 years of age 5 feet 8 inches high
has a scar between the second and third joints
of the forefinger of his left hand was born
free and raised in the County and State
aforesaid
                            In Testimony &c
    (Seal)                  this 19th august 1816

Talbot County to wit
I hereby certify that M.r Jeremiah
Gony of the County and State aforesaid came
and proved to my satisfaction that the bearer
hereof a light Black man named Thaddeus
who is now about 33 years of age 5 feet 4¾ Inches
high has a small scar on his nose & one other
small scar near his right eye brow was
manumitted & set free by a certain Traverse
Garland of the County and State aforesaid &
was raised in s.d County & state
                   In Testimony &c this 5th
