    State of Maryland  Talbot County  To wit  I hereby
Certify that Thomas Gordon of Talbot County
came and proved to my satisfaction that the
bearer hereof a black man who calls himself
Sam and who is about five feet eight inches
and a quarter of an inch high twenty eight
years of age a small scar over the inner Corner
of his right eye also two other scars on the ought
side of his right leg is the identical person
named in a manumission from Joseph Darden
to sundry negroes ^to be free he should arrive to the age of 25 years^ & which is duly acknowledged
and enrolled among the land records of Talbot
County afsd and that he was raised in said
County      In Testimony &.a this 12.th Jan.y 1810

State of Maryland Talbot County to wit
                  I hereby Certify that Caleb Brown of said
County and State came and proved to my
satisfaction that the bearer hereof a black man
who calls himself Simon Trippe and who is now
about twenty two years of age five feet five inches
high  one remarkable scar on the inside of
his left arm about six inches from the
Joint of his hand One other small
scar on his left hand in a direction
with and about two inches from the third
Joint of his fore finger  also one other
small scar over his right eye  dark
complection was born free and that the
said Simon Trippe was raised in the
County & state afsd   In Testimony &a
