T. Cot.y to wit
I hereby certify all person whom it
doth or may concern that Thos Banning of T Cout.y
afs.d came and proved to my satisfaction that the
bearer hereof Negro Peter of a very brown complection
5 f 3 in high has a notable scar on his forehead
and also a scar on his left hand occasioned by burns
is the Identical person manumitted by Hy Banning
on the 19.th of July 1780  In Testimony &.c June 3.d 1809

Talbot County to wit
I hereby certify to all
persons whom it doth or may Concern that Rachel
Jenkins of the County and State afs.d came and proved to
my satisfaction that the bearer hereof (a bright molatto
man named "James" otherwise Called James Chapman
who is now about thirty one years of age Five feet five
Inches and three quarters of an Inch high has no
notable marks or scars except a small scar over his
       left Eye brow) was born free and raised in the
       County afs.d In Testimony &.c this 10th day of
       April 1815
