free in virtue of a deed of manumission duly executed by his father
negro Samuel Bond on the Twenty Ninth day of August in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and Nine and recorded
among the land records of Harford County Court
       In Testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and affix
the seal of my office on this Twenty Second day of November in
the Year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and Twenty two

                            Negro Samuel Giles

      State of Maryland Harford County Sct
I hereby certify that negro Samuel Giles the bearer hereof aged about Twenty
five years five feet Six and three quarter inches high of a slightly yellowish
complexion ^with holes in his ears for the purpose of wearing rings^ was born free and raised in Harford County

                   In Testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and affix the seal
of my office on this Tenth day of June in the year of our Lord one
thousand Eight hundred and Twenty Three

             I hereby certify that Negro Samuel ^the bearer of this^ aged about Forty years Five
feet Eleven Inches high of a dark yellow complexion has an elevated
Scar a little back of the left eyebrow and a large scar upon the Second
joint of the right great toe a small indented scar above the right eyebrow
a large nose was set free by John Ashmore by a deed of manumission
bearing date on the Second day of January in the year of our
Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Twenty Two and recorded among
the Land records of Harford County Court

       In Testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and affix the
       Seal of my Office on this Seventeenth day of June in the
       year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Twenty
       Three
