Her person identified by a certain James L Bryan Given under my hand and the seal of my Office this 20th day of October Anno Domini 1825 (Seal) Tho C Earle Rr Wills Queen Anns County State of Maryland Queen Anns County To Wit Whereas a certain negro woman named Phillis has made application to me for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all persons whom it doth or may concern that by the last will and Testament of a certain Thomas Elliott duly executed on the 2d day of November 1813 and proved in my Office on the 24.th day of May 1814 a certain negro woman named Phillis five feet three Inches in heigth complexion black a scar on her right Elbow said to have been occasioned by a burn was manumitted and set free by the last will and Testament of the said Thomas Elliott Her freedom to commence when she shall have attained the age of thirty one years. By the Inventory of the personal Estate of the said Tho Elliott dated the 10.th day of Septr 1814 the said negro woman Phillis was then said to be 22 years of age Her person identified by a certain James L Bryan.
