94 man named Dick Gibbs five feet five inches and three quarters of an Inch in heigth of a black complexion a scar under his right eye in the form of a curve about an Inch in length also a scar on his forehead nearly over the right eye and a slight scar on his under lip was manumitted and set free by the last will and Testament of the said John Browne his freedom to commence at the expiration of five years from the first day of January Eighteen hundred and sixteen His person identified by a certain William Harper Sen Given under my hand and the seal of my Office this 27.th day of September Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and twenty five Tho C Earle Rr Wills for Queen Anns County State of Maryland Queen Anns County To Wit whereas a certain negro woman named Nan has made application to me for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all persons whom it doth or may concern that by the last will and Testament of a certain Thomas Elliott dated on the 2d day of November 1813 and proved in my office on the 24th day of may 1814 a certain negro woman named Nan five feet five Inches in heigth dark mulatto a large scar on the back of the left hand occasioned by a scald or burn was manumitted and set free by the last will and Testament of the said THomas Elliott Her freedom to commence when she shall have attained the age of thirty one years By the Inventory of the personal Estate of the said Tho Elliott dated the 10.th day of September 1814 the said negro woman Nan was then said to be |
