93 certify to all persons whom it doth or may concern that by the last will & Testamt of a certain Rebecca Hammond duly executed on the 12.th day of August 1808 and proved in my Office on the 19.th day of October 1812 a certain negro named Charles five feet eight and an half inches in heigth very dark complexion a scar near the centre of his forehead also a scar on his breast another scar on his right leg three or four inches above the ancle joint has been injured in his left hip so as to cause him to limp a little was manumitted and set free by the last will & Testament of the said Rebecca Hammond his freedom to commence at the expiration of five years from the 1.st day of Jany next after the decease of the said Rebecca Hammond His person has been identified by a certain Wm H Downing Given under my hand & the seal of my Office this 16.th day of may Anno Domini 1825 Tho C Earle Rr Wills Queen Anns County ^State of^ Maryland Queen Anns County To wit whereas a certain negro man named Dick Gibbs has made application to me for a certificate of freedom under an act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore Certify to all whom it doth or may concern that by the last will and Testament of a certain John Browne duly executed on the twelfth day of December Eighteen hundred and fifteen and proved in my Office on the twenty third ^day of December^ in the same year a certain negro |
