my hand and the Seal of my Office this 27.th day of November
Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and twenty four
                               Tho.s C Earle R.r Wills
                                          Queen Anns County


State of Maryland Queen Anns County To Wit
                   Whereas a certain negro man named
Joshua has made application to me for a certificate
of feedom under an Act of the General Assembly of
Maryland passed at November Session 1805
       I do therefore certify to all whom it nay ^may^ or doth concern
that by the last Will and Testament of a certain
Sarah Price duly executed on the seventeenth day of
September in the year Eighteen hundred & seven and
proved in my Office on the twenty fifth day of September
in the same year a certain negro Boy named Joshua
of a dark complexion five feet one Inch & a half in
heighth a scar on his left arm just above the wrist
a scar on his forehead a large scar on his right leg
another not so large on the lower part of the calf of the
same leg and a scar on this ^his^ right temple was bequeathed
to a certain John W Bordley on the following words viz
"Item   I give an bequeath to my cousin John W Bordley
the service of my negro boy Joshua for the term of five
years"   His person identified by John W Bordley to
whom he the said negro man Joshua was bequeathed
as above stated.  Given under my hand and the
seal of my Office this 30.th day of December in
the year 1824
