79 negro woman named Ibby of a dark complexion five feet five & one fourth inches in heighth a slight scar on the fore finger of the right hand & stout made was manumitted & set free by the last will & Testament of the said John Dodd her freedom to commence on the first day of January next ensuing after his death Her person identified by a certain Daniel Newnam Given under my hand & seal this 16th day of October Anno Domini 1822 The Estate of Dodd proved insolvent & Ibby was Sold I believe Tho C Earle Regr Wills by John Baggs Queen Anns County State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit Whereas a certain negro man named Laserus has made application to me for a certificate of freedom under an act of the General Assembly of maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all whom it doth or may concern that by the last will & Testament of a certain John Grason late of Queen Anns County ^the City of Annapolis^ deceased duly executed on the 26.th day of December 1805 and proved in the office of the Register of wills for Anne Arundel County on the 4.th day of January 1806 a copy of which has been received & recorded on the Records of the Orphans Court for Queen Anns County a certain negro slave named Lazerus of a black complexion five feet six inches in heigth a slight scar near the corner of the left eye a little below the Eye brow also a scar near the left corner of his mouth and a large scar on the lower part of the back of his neck was manumitted & set free by the last will & Testament of the said John Grason his freedom to commence in seventeen years from the death of the said Jno Grason His person identified by a certain Wm Grason Given under my hand & Seal this 25.th day of Febry Anno Domini 1823 Tho C Earle Rgr Wills Queen Anns County |
