certify to all persons whom it doth
or may concern that by the last
Will and Testament of a certain
Rachel Clayton late of Queen Anns
County deceased duly executed on
the fourth day of January in the year
seventeen hundred and ninety six
and proved in my office on the 20th
day of may seventeen hundred and
ninety six a certain negro Boy named
Charles of rather light complexion
five feet seven & a half inches
high a scar on his left cheek near
the extremity of the jaw bone another
scar near the left hip bone bushy
head  was manumitted and set
free By the last Will and Testament
of said Rachel Clayton his freedom
to commence on the twenty fifth
day of December in the year Eighteen
hundred and six  His person
identified by a certain mary Mattison
Given under my hand and
seal this 17.th day of April Anno
Domini Eighteen hundred & twenty
two              Thos C Earle Regr Wills
                    Queen Anns County
