    The State of Maryland Queen anns County To wit  Whereas application
has been made to me by a Certain negro Man named
Benjamin for a certificate of his being a free Man under an act
of the General assembly of this State passed at their November session
Eighteen hundred five      I do therefore hereby certify all persons
whom it doth or may concern that by the last will and Testament
of a certain John L Wilmer late of Queen anns County deceased
duly Executed on the eighth day of September Seventeen hundred
and ninety four and proved in my office on the 28th day of october
1795   A certain negro Man named Ben of a dark complexion
about thirty six years of age five feet four Inches and
a half Inch high a full face well made a little grey
headed a small scar on the first Joint of the third finger on the
left hand no other Visable mark was manumitted and
set free his freedom to commence on his arriving at the age of
thirty four years      his person identified by William
Clayton Esq & wife Ann Thompson to be the same

named Bob alias Robert Gould for a certificate of his freedom
I do hereby certify all persons whom it doth or may
concern that by the last Will and Testament of a Certain
John L Wilmer late of Queen anns County deceased duly
executed on the eighth day of September 1794 and proved
in my office on the 28th day of October 1795 a certain
negro Man named Robert of a dark complexion thirty
four and upwards of age five feet eight Inches and
a fourth Inch high high cheek bones hath a scar on the
Joint of the elbow of the right hand arm ^occasioned by a burn^ and one on the
left arm occasioned by a burn cut was manumitted
and set free his freedom to commence at his arrival
at thirty four years of age his person identified
by Wm Clayton Esq and wife Ann Thompson to
be the same            Apl 16 1816
