257 State of Maryland Queen Anns County to wit I hereby certify that a certain negro man named Jack five feet seven & a half inches high of light complexion & has a scar on his right leg was manumitted & set free by the last will & testament of a certain Eleanor Tilghman dated 12th February 1821 and admitted to probat in my office on the 20th day of said month his freedom to commence on the 1st day of January Eighteen hundred & forty eight his person Identified by the evidence of a certain Col John Tilghman In testimony whereof I have hereunto (Seal) set my name and affixed the seal of my office this 1st Jan.y 1848 Lem.l Roberts Reg wills for Queen Anns County State of Maryland Queen Anns County to wit I hereby certify that a certain negro man named Sam now about thirty years old five feet four & a fourth inches high complexion dark & has a scar on his left arm was manumitted & set free by the last will and testament of a certain John May dated on the 16th Day of December 1821 & admitted to probat in my office on this 13th April 1822 his freedom to commence on the 1st day of January 1848 & his person Identified by the evidence of a certain Joshua May In testimony whereof I have hereunto (Seal) set my name & affixed the seal of my office this 1st Jan.y 1848 Lem.l Roberts Reg wills for Queen Anns County |
