State of Maryland Queen Anns County to wit

       I hereby certify that a certain negro man named
Charles now about 23 years old 5 feet 6½ inches high
of dark complexion and has two scars between his left
wrist and thumb was manumitted and set free by
the last will and testament of a certain John Charles
dated 14th July 1845 and admitted to probat in my
office on the 13th day of August of the same year his
freedom to commence at Christmas 1845 his person
identified by the evidence of a certain Henry Hassett
             In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set
(Seal)    my name and affixed the seal of my
             office this 1st day of January 1847

                                              for Queen Anns County


State of Maryland Queen Anns County to wit
                I hereby certify that a certain bound ^negro^ boy named
Robert Miller now about five f Twenty three
years old according to the indentures of apprenticship
recorded in this office & consequently
he is now free said boy is five feet six & a
half inches high of dark complexion & has
a scar on his right big toe and another on
his left leg his freedom commenced on the
fifteenth day of august 1844  his person Identified
by a certain Ja.s P Dudley
                   In Testimony whereof I have
                   hereunto set my name & affixed
(Seal)          the seal of my office this 16th
                   day of February 1847
