    State of Maryland
Queen Anns County to wit
          I hereby certify that a certain Negro Boy now
about 19 years old named Elbert 5 feet 6¼ inches high
of dark complexion and has a scar on his Breast
was manumitted and set free by the last will
and testament of a certain John C Sparks dated 14th
July 1845 and admitted to probat in my office
on the 13th day of August of the same year his
freedom to commence at Christmas 1845 his person
Identified by the evidence of a certain Philemon
Cook
                         In testimony whereof I have hereunto
                         set my name and affixed the seal
(Seal)                of my office this 1st Jany 1847
                                  Leml Roberts Regr Wills
                                        for Queen Anns County


State of Maryland Queen Anns County to wit
             I hereby certify that a certain Negro man named
Francis now about 37 years of age 5 feet 2¾ inches high
of light complexion and has a scar on his left leg
was manumitted & set free by the last will and testament
of a certain Lemuel Purnell dated on the
25th day of June 1846 and admitted to probat in my office
on the 18th day of November of the same year
his freedom to commence on the 1st day of January
Eighteen hundred & forty seven his person identified
by the evidence of a certain Joseph Eaton
                            In testimony whereof I have hereunto
                            set my name & affixed the
       (Seal)            Seal of my office this 1st Jany 1847
