232 Maryland Queen Anns County to wit I hereby certify that a certain negro woman named Matilda now about fifty ^two^ Years of Age five feet five & three quarter inches in hight rather light complexion & has a scar on her throat one or two scars on each arm all of them small was manumitted & set free by the last will & testament of a certain Wm Hemsley dated 7th may 1821 & admitted to probat in my office on the 25.th day of November 1825 her freedom to commence at the age of twenty three Yeas or two Years after the death of the said deceased Wm Hemsley her person Identified by the Evidence of a certain Wm Forman In testimony whereof I have hereunto (Seal) set my name & affixed the seal of my office this 8th day of July 1845 Maryland Queen Anns County to wit I hereby Certify that a Certain Negro woman named Rebecca now about thirty four Years old nearly five feet high thickly made and of rather light Complexion has a scar on her left arm just above the Elbow was manumitted & set free by the last will & testament of a certain George Smith dated on the 30th may 1826 and admitted to probat in my office on the 7th day of September 1826 her freedom to commence on the 25th December 1841 her person Identified by a Certain John Smith whose writin Certificate is filed in this office In testimony whereof I have hereunto (Seal) Set my name & affixed my the seal of my office this 5th day of August 1845 |
