State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit
       I do hereby Certify that a certain negro woman
^named Jane^ now about thirty two Years of age five feet Six & three q.rs
inches in h^e^ight light complexion and has several scars
on her right arm & one on her left hand  was manumitted
and set free by a codicil to the last will and Testament
of a certain Edward Gleaves dated
on the 15th day of June 1818 and admitted to
probat in my office on the 12th day of Novr
1823 ^her freedom to commence on the 1st day of May 1833^ her person Identified by the evidence
of a certain Asbur Francis A. Rochester
                      In testimony whereof I have
                hereunto set my name and affixed
(Seal)       the seal of my office this 7th day
                of June 1844   Lem.l Roberts Reg Wills
                                       for Queen Anns County


State of Maryland Queen Anns County to wit
                I do hereby Certify that a certain negro
woman named Betsey now about thirty nine
years of Age five feet & a half inches in hight
dark complexion and has lost the first joint
of her left forefinger            was manumitted
and set free by ^a codicil to^ the last will and testament
of a certain Alfred Jones dateed on the fifteenth
day of February 1831 and admitted to probat in
my office on the 18th day of April 1831 ^her freedom to commence on the the death of his wife^ her person
Identified by the evidence of a certain Thomas
Meredith         In Testimony whereof I have
                      hereunto set my name and
(Seal)             affixed my seal this 16th day of
                      August 1844      Lem.l Roberts Reg Wills
                                           for Queen Anns County
