218 Maryland Queen Anns County To wit I do hereby Certify that a certain negro woman named Harriett now about 25 Years of age five feet and three quarters of an inch high light Complexion and has a scar on the thick part of her right thumb was manumitted and set free by the last will and Testament of a Certain William Carman dated on the 18th day of may Eighteen hundred and twenty seven and admitted to probat ^in my office^ on the 6th day of October Eighteen hundred and twenty seven her freedom to Commence when ^she is^ twenty One Years old her person Identified by the Evidence of A Certain Ann Johnson In Testimony whereof I have hereunto (Seal) set my name and affixed the seal of my office this 6th day March 1844 Lem.l Roberts Reg Wills for Queen Anns County State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit I hereby Certify that a certain negro man named Sewell Starkey about twenty five Years of age was born free he is of common size not very black about five feet nine inches high has a scar on his left cheek Sewell's Mother was a servant to my mother and he was born after his mother became free his Father was free and also lived in the family consequently well known to me from his infancy In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my name and affixed the (Seal) seal of my office this 12th day of March 1844 Lem.l Roberts Reg Wills The above by the for Queen Anns County Register himself |
