169 State of Maryland Queen Anns County sct I certify that a certain Negro man named Ephraim five feet five and a half Inches high dark complexion a small scar on his forehead and is about twenty Eight years of age whose Mother (Nancy) was manumitted and set free by the last Will and Testament of a Certain John Carter and all her issue at the age of twenty seven years duly executed on the 20 March 1798 and proved in my office on the 11 Feby 1801 his person was identified by the Oath of a certain James L Bryan In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set (Seal) my name and affixed the seal of my office this 9th day of May Eighteen hundred and thirty five Tho C Earle Regr Wills for Queen Anns County State of Maryland Q. A. C. to wit I hereby certify that a certain negro woman named Nancy otherwise Called Ann Wye about 24 years of age 5 feet ½ inch high small scar on her left arm dark complexion sprightly countenance flat nose was born free Nancys mother was a servant in my family at the time of her birth and her father a slave belonging to me Consequently well known to me from her infancy In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my (seal) name and affixed the seal of my office this 21.st day of July Eighteen hundred & thirty five |
