164 State of Maryland Queen Anns County to wit I hereby certify that a certain Negro woman named Frances who calls herself "Frances Roberts" not about thirty seven years of age black complexion and well made has a scar on her right arm above her elbow occasioned by the small pox and is five feet four and a half Inches in height was manumitted and set free by the Last Will and Testament of Elijah Comegys duly executed on the 29 day of July 1808 and proved in my Office on the 22 day of June 1811 at the Execution of the aforesaid Will the said Frances was said to be Eleven years old in January last and to be free at the age of thirty years her person was identified by the Oath of Benjamin Comegys who was a Nephew and Legatee of the Testator above mentioned Given under my hand and the seal (seal) of my office this 2 day of August Anno Domini Eighteen hundred & thirty four Tho C Earle Reg Wills for Queen Anns County State of Maryland Queen Anns County to wit I hereby certify that a negro woman Sarah who calls herself Sarah now about 40 years of age five feet two & a quarter Inches in height Complexion black Several small scars on each of his arms above the Elbow was manumitted and set free by the last will and Testament of a a certain Joshua Penkine duly Executed on the 6 day of April 1827 and proved in my office on the 15 day of Sept 1824 Her freedom to commence from and after the expiration of 6 years from his decease and her person having been identified by the oath of a certain William Bryan In Testimony that the foregoing is a body (Seal) Copy from the Will of of Joshua Penkine I have hereunto set my hand & affixed the seal of my office this 12 Augt 1834 Tho C Earle Reg Wills |
