161 Her person was identified by the Oath of a certain Frances Boyer who stated that the said woman Henrietta is the daughter of the negro woman ^named^ Jane mentioned in the will of the said James McWay Given under my hand and the seal of my Office this 4.th day of September [seal] 1833 Tho C Earle Rr Wills for Queen Anns County State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit I do hereby certify that a certain Negro Man named John who calls himself John Benson aged about forty five years dark complexion five feet six inches and three quarters in height a large scar across the second joint of the thumb of his right hand & pleasant countenance was manumitted and set free by a codicil to the last Will and Testament of a certain Ann Pratt duly executed on the second day of June and proved in my office on the twentieth day of July Eighteen hundred and thirty three. His freedom to commence in seven months from the date of the said codicil. His person Identified by the Oath of a certain Henry J F Pratt who is the admr of the said Ann. Given under my hand and the seal of my office this 11th day [Seal] of January in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty four Tho C Earle Reg Wills NB. John appears younger than for Queen Anns County he is stated to be by Mrs Pratts Inventory |
