139 State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit Whereas application has been made to me by a certain mulatto man named Jacob who calls himself Jacob Harris for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all whom it doth or may concern that by the last will & Testamt of a certain Solomon Holton duly executed on the 21.st day of February 1793 and proved in my Office on the 18.th day of Nov 1795 a certain mulatto man named Jacob who calls himself Jacob Harris about years of age feet Inches in heigth and has a scar on the upper part of his cheek very near his right Ear was manumitted and claims his freedom under the following clause in the will of the said Solo Holton viz " I give and bequeath unto my said dear wife during her natural life the of my said negro woman Mincy and her two children and her future increase and of the increase of the daughters of the said Mincy and from and immediately after the decease of my said dear wife I direct and order that my said negro woman Mincy and her two children with any future increase she may have and the increase of the daughter of the said Mincy shall be free and I do hereby give and grant them their freedom from that period. " The said mulatto man named Jacob was identified by the Oath of a certain Thomas Reed Senr to be the son of Henny one of the daughters of the said woman Mincy Given under my hand and the seal of my Office this 20.th Nov 1830 [seal] Tho C Earle Rr Wills for Queen Anns County |
