126 of the fore finger and thumb of his left hand which he states was occasioned by a burn but can scarcely be discerned and has lost one of his upper fore teeth was manumitted and set free by the last Will & Testament of a certain Jacob Barnes proved in my Office on the 10.th day of December 1799 His freedom to take place in twenty seven years from the first day of January next after the proving his said will His person was identified by the Oath of a certain Peregrine Winchester. Given under my hand and the Seal of my Office this 12.th day of July Anno Domini Eighteen hundred [Seal] and twenty eight Tho C Earle Rr Wills for Queen Anns County Note The foregoing Certificate is on parchment & the impression of the seal of Office on rose cold letter paper State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit No 13 whereas application has been made to me by a certain negro man named Solomon for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify that a certain negro man named Solomon now about thirty seven years of age black complexion five feet six inches in heigth a large scar on his right thigh a little below the hip a scar on the back of his right hand near the upper joint of the thumb & his upper teeth much decayed was manumitted and set free by the last Will and Testament of a certain Henry Costin duly executed on the ninth and proved in my Office on the seventeenth day of December Eighteen hundred and eight. His freedom to commence at the expiration of twelve years from the date of the said will. His person was identified by the Oath of a certain John G. Smith who stated that his father Saml Smyth decd purchased said negro Solomon from the Estate of the said Henry Costin for the term he had to serve.
