No 8 State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit whereas application has been made to me by a certain mulatto man named Ned or Edward who calls himself Edward Goldsborough for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all whom it doth or may concern that by the last Will and Testamt of a certain Arnold Carman duly executed on the 26 day of Jany and proved in my Office on the 17 day of Feby 1797 a certain Mulatto man named Edward five feet three and a half inches in heigth now about thirty six years of age a small scar or dark spot on his left arm a little above the wrist long hair rather long and inclined to curl naturally good teeth & usually wears his hair curled at the temples was manumitted and set free his freedom to commence at the age of thirty one years His person was identified by ^the Oath of^ a certain James Merrick who states that he bought him the said Edward for the term he had to serve Given under my hand and the Seal of my Office this 6.th day of March Anno Domini 1828 [ ] Tho C Earle Rr Wills for Queen Anns County No 9 State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit Whereas application has been made to me by a certain negro man named John for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed Nov Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all whom it doth or may concern that a certain negro man named John about 25 years of age 5 feet 8¼ Inches in heigth complexion black a scar on the lower part of his breast and the little finger of both his right and left hand crooked and seem to have been injured was manumitted and set free |
