122 this 19 day of November Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and twenty seven [Seal] Tho C Earle Rr Wills for Queen Anns County See Colo E F Chambers' letter on file No 7 State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit whereas application has been made to me by a certain negro woman named Elisa for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all persons whom it doth or may concern that by the last Will & Testament of a certain John Grason duly executed on the 26.th day of December 1805 and proved in my Office on the 4.th day of January 1806 the issue of a certain negro woman named Maria were manumitted and set free when they shall respectively attain the age of twenty in years and whereas the aforesaid negro woman Elisa who is now five feet one inch and a quarter in heigth twenty one years of age dark complexion a slender and delicate person good teeth a dark spot & scar on the inside ^inner part^ of her left arm & a smaller but similar spot and scar on the upper part of the same arm both between the wrist and elbow joints claims her freedom under the aforesaid clause in the will of the said John Grason I do therefore further certify that a certain Wm Grason of Queen Anns County has upon his Oath declared the above discribed woman named Elisa to be one of the issue of negro Maria mentioned in the will of the aforesaid John Grason and that she has attained the age of twenty one years Given under my hand and the seal of my Office this 9.th [Seal] day of Jany 1828 Tho C Earle Rr Wills for Queen Anns County |
