No 3 State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit Whereas application has been made to me by a certain negro man named Abraham for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all persons whom it doth or may concern that by the last Will and Testament of certain James McWay duly executed on the nineteenth day of January Eighteen hundred and four and proved in my Office on the thirteenth day of June in the same year a certain negro man named Abraham now about twenty ^five^ or twenty six years of age five feet eight inches in height dark complexion a large scar on the upper part of his forehead nearly over the left eye a notch in the lower part of his right Ear which he states was so from the time of his birth and a small wattle about half an inch above the notch was manumitted and set free His freedom to commence at the expiration of twenty two years His person was identified by the Oath of a certain Geo Palmer Sen.r Given under my hand and the Seal of my Office this 24th day of July Anno Domini Eighteen [Seal] hundred and twenty seven Tho C Earle Rr Wills for Queen Anns County NB The original of the above certificate is on parchment & the seal impressed on rose paper and attached by a piece of common tape No 4 State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit whereas application has been made to me by a certain negro woman named Anna for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all persons whom it doth or may concern that by the last will and Testament of a certain Ferdinand |
