117 aforesaid negro woman Teney Given under my hand and the seal of my Office this 8th day of May Anno Domini Eighteen hundred [Seal] and twenty seven Tho C Earle Rr Wills Queen Anns County State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit Whereas application has been made to me by a certain negro negro man named Dick or Richard who usually calls himself Richard Thomas for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all whom it doth or may concern that by the last Will & Testamt of a certain John Browne duly executed on the 12.th day of December in the year Eighteen hundred and fifteen and proved in my Office on the 23d day of the same month and year No 1 State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit Whereas application has been made to me by a certain negro man named Dick or Richard who calls himself Richd Thomas for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all ^persons^ whom it doth or may concern that by the last will & Testament of a certain John Browne duly executed on the 12th and proved in my Office on the 23.d day of December Eighteen hundred and fifteen a certain negro man ^named Dick^ now about thirty one years of age five feet ten inches and three quarters in heigth Black complexion Stout and well made a large scar on the inner side of his right arm and near the Elbow joint and a small scar on the wrist joint of his right arm was manumitted and set free His freedom to commence when he shall have attained the age of twenty |
