116 Well together with ^the^ following description of his person negro Bill mentioned in the foregoing Extract was identified by Margaret Baker of Talbot County he is five feet two & and an half Inches high very black and two of the Toes on the left foot much shorter than the others apparently a natural defect Tho.s C Earle R.r Wills Queen Anns County State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit whereas application has been made to me by a certain negro man named Elisha for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at Nov Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all persons who it doth of may concern that the last will and Testament of a certain Jacob Barnes proved in my Office on the 10th day of Dec 1799 contains the following clause " My will is that my negro man Cesar and Jacob be free at the expiration of eight years from the 1.st day of Jany next after this will becomes of force and that my negro woman Teney be free at the expiration of ten years from the said 1.st day of Jany next after this will becomes of force and that my negro Boy James son of said Teney be free at the expiration of twenty seven years from the 1.st day of January as aforesaid and my will is that the issue of the said negro woman Teney which may be born during her servitude and their issue born during their servitude shall severally serve until they respectively arrive at the age of twenty five " Negro Man Elisha above mentioned is of a dark complexion five feet 8¾ Inches in heigth a scar on the cap of each knee two small scars on his left arm stated to have been occasioned by the bite of a dog and a good set of teeth and is identified by the Oath of a certain Isaac Winchester to be one of the issue of the |
