108 freedom to commence when he shall have attained the age of twenty seven years His person identified by the Oath of a certain John Baxter who administered on the Estate of his deceased father John Baxter whom he states intermarried with Fetney Sheerwood to whom the aforesaid Negro Daniel was bequeathed by the will of the aforesaid Lewis Derochbrune until he arrived at the age of twenty seven years as aforesaid Given under my hand and the Seal of my Office this 3.d day of July Anno Domini 1826 Tho C Earle Rr Wills Queen Anns County State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit Whereas application has been made to me by a certain negro man named Elbert for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at Nov Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all persons whom it doth or may concern that by the last will and Testament of a certain James Griffith duly executed on the 18.th day of Jany 1821 and proved in my office on the 24.th day of August 1822 a certain negro man named Elbert five feet six Inches and a half in heigth very black a scar on his forehead just over the right eye notch in his left ear the great toe of his right foot slit leaving a considerable scar was manumitted and set free His freedom to commence on the 1.st day of January 1826 His person identified by ^the oath of^ a certain John Hassett the Executor appointed by the will of the said James Griffith and to whom Letters Testamentary have in due form been granted |
