107 On the 4.th day of May 1825 I granted a certificate of freedom to negro man Saul who was set free by the will of Colo Philip Feddeman See record thereof folo 91 I gave another certificate to the same negro of this date on his his making oath that the former was distroyed on which last certificate is the following endorsement Viz " State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit I hereby certify that on the 4.th day of May 1825 I granted a certificate of freedom to the above named negro man Saul of which the foregoing is a true copy with the exception of the date and the said negro man Saul upon his Oath states that in the month of Jany 1826 the House in which he resided in this county was entirely destroyed by fire and that the certificate above mentioned was at the same time also destroyed May 29 1826 Tho C Earle Rr Wills Queen Anns C.ty State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit Whereas application has been made to me by a certain negro man named Daniel for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all persons whom it doth or may concern that by the last will & Testamt of a certain Lewis Derochbrune duly executed on the 6.th 1792 and proved in my Office on the 22d day of Sept in the same year a certain negro man named Daniel of a yellowish complexion 5 feet 10 Inches and one fourth in heigth a scar near the cap of his left knee also a scar about the middle of his right foot extending from the under part or sole to an inch or two on the top of his foot and a scar on the back of his left hand about an inch and a half long aged about thirty four years was manumitted and set free his |
