101 State of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit whereas a certain negro man named Amos has made application to me for a certificate of freedom under an act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at Nov Session 1805 I do therefore certify to all whom it doth or may concern that by the last will & Testamt of a certain James Cox duly executed on the 9 day of Dec 1815 and proved in my Office on the 30.th day of Jany 1816 a certain negro man named Amos five feet seven Inches and 7/8 of an inch in heigth a dark mulatto having a small scar on the lower part of his breast bone als a scar on his left Ear occasioned as he states by a cut was manumitted and set free by the last will & Testament of the said James Cox His freedom to commence at the expiration of five years after the decease of the said James Cox His person identified by the Oath of a certain Henry Anthony who states that he purchased the said negro man Amos for the term he had to serve of a certain Christopher Cox the Executor of the last will & Testamt of the said James Cox Given under my hand & the seal of my Office this 4.th day of [Seal] March Anno Domini 1826 Tho C Earle Rr Wills Queen Anns County Sate of Maryland Queen Anns County To wit Whereas a certain negro man named Hanibal has made application to me for a certificate of freedom under an Act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed at November Session 1805 I do therefore hereby certify to all persons whom it doth or may concern that by the last |
