To the Clerk of Kent County Court            I hereby certify that a
negro woman named Laura Jones the bearer hereof was free
born and has been raised in Kent County & she is now nearly
nineteen years old      Witness my hand this twenty third day
of October 1851                              E M Wickes

          This is to certify that Maria Wallis now present and
applying for a certificate of freedom is the identical person
mentioned in a deed of manumission executed by Louis
Hepbron on the 16 Dec 1851 & recorded in Kent County

    Maria is five feet two and one half inches high dark
complexion a small scar on the little finger of the right
hand & also a small scar on the upper lip
