Kent County, Certificates of Freedom, 1849-1864

    To the Clerk of Kent County Court      I hereby certify that
a negro man named Charles Bordley who is now present
and applying for a certificate of freedom was free born and
raised in Kent County being the son of a free woman named
Rebecca Bordley formerly of Chestertown in this county but
now deceased   said Charles Bordley is now about twenty
three years old and is about five feet three inches high of a black
complexion and has a small scar on the upper part of the
right side of the forehead

Filed and recorded on the 25 day of August 1851 and

    Maryland Kent County to wit                   I hereby certify
that James W Pearce bearer hereof now present & applying
for a certificate of freedom aged about or near twenty two
years was born of a free woman he was raised in Kent
County and now resides therein      Witness my hand this
6 day of September 1851 he is five feet eight and one half
inches high has a scar on the back of the left hand

    Filed and recorded on the 6 day of September 1851 and

    To the Clerk of Kent county Court         I hereby certify
that Perry Frisby a mulatto man who is now present and
applying for a certificate of freedom was born of a free woman
and raised in Kent County he is now about twenty two
years old                           JBRicaud         10 sep 1851
    Pere Frisby is five feet eight and one half inches high
yellow complexion about twenty two years old
    Filed and recorded on the 10 day of September 1851 and

Joseph Ringgold a negro man who is now present and
