on the 7th day of January 1825 to be free on the first day of January 1850

    Said negro Benjamin is 5 feet 9¼ inches high of a light complexion and

    of freedom issued to the said negro man Benjamin

Bill Jones who is now present & applying for a certificate of
freedom was free born and raised in Kent County and is
now about twenty two years of age

complexion
Filed and recorded on the third day of March Eighteen
hundred and fifty one & certificate issued            By

                         I hereby certify that a negro man named Alexander
Browne who is now present and applying for a certificate of
freedom is the same negro man who was manumitted by
me by deed of manumission dated and executed on the 10.th
day of May in the year Eighteen hundred and forty seven and
duly recorded according to Law      witness my hand this
Eighth day of March 1851
                                                      Eliza Smith
Alexander Browne is now about 36 years old dark complexion
two scars on the calf of the left leg five feet seven &
one quarter inches high
