40 are both free and were free born and both raised in Kent County Elizabeth Posey is about twenty years old is about four feet Eleven inches high is of a darkish complexion and has no remarkable scar or mark visible Ellen Posey is about nineteen years old is about five feet one and a fourth inches high is of a light complexion and has a small scar on the back of the right hand near where it joins to the wrist Tho T Mann Oct 29th 1850 Filed and recorded on the 29th of October 1850 and a certificates of freedom issued to the said negro women Elizabeth Posey and Ellen Posey By Jos Redue Clk of Kt Co Ct Md To the Clerk of Kent County Court I hereby certify that a negro woman named Harriett who is now present and applying for a certificate of Freedom is the identical person who is named in a Bill of Sale to Alexander Chaney (and in which Bill of sale is also included a manumission for the said negro woman Harriett and her three children) by Thomas H. Horsey duly executed and bearing date the 11th day of October 1850 and is also the same woman who is mentioned and included in a deed of manumission (with her three children) executed by Alexander Chaney (fn) and bearing date on this thirty first day of October 1850 and duly recorded in the records of Kent County said negro woman Harriet and who calls herself Harriet Mann is about twenty six years of age is of a light complexion is about five feet and three quarters inches high and has a mark or scar on the left wrist at the joint John McDaniel 31st Oct 1850 Filed and recorded on the 31st day of October 1850 and a certificate of Freedom issued to the said negro woman Harriett Mann By Jos Redue Clk Kt Co Ct Md Philadelphia Oct 11th 1850 Mr Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court Md This is to certify that negro woman Martha otherwise Martha Ann (bearer hereof) is the identical negro girl who was manumitted by my Father Samuel G. Osborn by deed of manumission bearing date the sixth day of October 1827 and that the said Martha or Martha Ann is now free and entitled to her certificate Tho.s H.
