35 To the Clerk of Kent County Court I hereby certify that negro Margarett who is now present & applying for a certificate of freedom is the daughter of a negro woman Joan who was manumitted by Richard S. Thomas on 23rd February 1814 And I further certify that the said negro Margarett is now Twenty one years of age and was raised in Kent County and was born after her Mother obtained her freedom under the aforesaid Manumission As witness my hand this 30th day May 1850 Carl L. Strandberg Cha.s Stanly The said Margarett is 5 feet & ¾ inches high black complexion & has a small scar on the right side of her neck Jos Redue Clk Filed and recorded on the 30th day of May 1850 and a certificate of freedom issued to the said negro Margarett By Jos Redue Clk of Kt Co Cot Md To the Clerk of Kent County Court This is to certify that the following named negroes to wit: Hannah Berryman, John Berryman, Richard Berryman and Jane Berryman who are all now present and applying for certificates of freedom were all freeborn and raised in Kent County said Hannah Berryman is about thirty five years old John Berryman is about twenty six years old Richard Berryman is about twenty four years old and Jane Berryman is about nineteen years old all of Black complexion Hannah has tender eyes and has a small scar from the bite of a rat near the left eye John has a scar on the back of his left hand Richard has a scar on his left hand and on his right hand Jane has no particular scar or mark Hannah is about 5 feet 2¼ inches high John is about 5 feet 4 3/8 inches high Richard is about 5 feet 5 inches high Jane is about 5 feet high Samuel A.
