(  seal of             )         In testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name
(Kent County     )         and affix the seal of Kent County Court this second
(Court Maryland)         day of March in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty

Issued and recorded on the second day of March 1850

    To the Clerk of Kent County Court
                            I hereby certify that a negro man named Stansbury
Holly now about twenty one years and six months old who is now
present applying for a certificate of freedom was born free and
raised in Kent County         Stansbury is of a dark complexion
and is five feet five inches high with a scar on his left knee
from the cut of a scythe                           John Kelley
                                                                   March 2nd 1850

Filed and recorded on the 2nd day of March 1850 and certificate
of freedom issued as follows
    Maryland Kent County sct
                      I Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court hereby
certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it hath been proved
by testimony which is satisfactory to me that the bearer hereof ^a^ negro
man named Stansbury Holly aged about twenty one years and
six months five feet five inches high of a dark complexion with
a scar on his left knee from the cut of a scythe when young was
born free and raised in Kent County

(Court Maryland)         second day of March in the year eighteen

Upon legal notice it is determined that in future the certificate to the Clerk
only will be recorded as that always contains the full description and
identity of the individual obtaining a certificate of freedom from the Clerk
