29 the year eighteen hundred and forty nine did manumit liberate set free and discharge from slavery a mulatto woman named Mary Freeman born on the twenty first day of September in the year Eighteen hundred and twenty one I further certify that a mulatto woman now present (the bearer hereof) called and known by the name of Mary Freeman aged about twenty eight years five feet & a half inch high of a very light complexion and has a small scar on the left eye lid has proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that she is the identical person mentioned and described by the name of Mary Freeman in the Deed of Manumission above referred to and that she was raised in Kent County ( seal of ) In testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and (Kent County ) affix the seal of Kent County Court this Twenty (Court Maryland) fifth day of February in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court State of Maryland Issued and recorded on the 25th day of February 1850 By Joseph Redue Clerk To the Clerk of Kent County Court I hereby certify that a negro man named John Tilghman now about twenty four years old and who is now present applying for a certificate of freedom was born free and raised in Kent County John has a slight scar on the right cheek and a small one about the centre of his forehead and is of a black complexion and is five feet 3¾ inches high John B. Parrott March 2nd 1850 Filed and recorded on the 2nd day of March 1850 and certificate of freedom issued as follows Maryland Kent County sct: I Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it hath been proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that the bearer hereof a negro Man named John Tilghman aged about twenty four years five feet three and three fourths inches high of a Black complexion with a slight scar on the right cheek and a small one about the Centre of his forehead was born free and raised in Kent County |
