27 To the Clerk of Kent County Court I hereby certify that Jere Beswicks who is now present & applying for a certificate of freedom is the identical person mentioned by that name in a Deed of Manumission executed by me on the 7th day of January 1850 & recorded among the records of Kent County witness my hand this 11th day of February 1850 Jere is 5 feet 5 inches high dark complexion with a slight scar Henry T Jump on the right corner of his mouth J Redue Clk Filed and recorded on the 11th day of February 1850 and certificate of Freedom issued as follows State of Maryland Kent County sct I Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it appears by the records of Kent County aforesaid that a certain Henry T. Jump of the said County by his certain Deed of Manumission bearing date on the seventh day of January in the year eighteen hundred and fifty did manumit liberate set free and discharge from slavery a negro man named Jere Beswicks born on the seventh day of January in the year Eighteen hundred and Ten I further certify that a negro man now present (the bearer hereof) called and known by the name of Jere Beswicks aged about forty years five feet five & ½ inches high of a dark complexion and has a slight scar on the right corner of his mouth has proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that he is the identical person mentioned and described by the name of Jere Beswicks in the Deed of Manumission above referred to and that he was raised in Kent County In testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and ( seal of ) affix the seal of Kent County Court this eleventh (Kent County ) day of February in the year eighteen hundred and fifty (Court Maryland) Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court State of Maryland Issued and recorded on the eleventh day of February Eighteen hundred and fifty By Joseph Redue Clerk To the Clerk of Kent County Court This is to certify that John Henry Wilmer who is now present & applying for a certificate of freedom was free born and raised in Kent County and is now about twenty three years of age Witness my hand this 11th day of February 1850 Henry T Jump |
