24 County by his certain deed of Manumission bearing date on the twenty ninth day of December in the year eighteen hundred and forty nine did manumit, liberate, set free and discharge from slavery a negro woman named Mary Jane now about thirty three years old I further certify that a negro woman now present (the bearer hereof) called and known by the name of Mary Jane aged about thirty three years five feet three and a quarter inches high of a light complexion and has a small scar in the left eyebrow has proved by testimony which is satisfactory to me that she is the identical person mentioned and described by the name of Mary Jane in the Deed of Manumission above referred to and that she was raised in Kent County In testimony whereof I hereto ( seal of ) subscribe my name and affix the seal of Kent (Kent County ) County Court this twenty ninth day of December (Court Maryland) in the year Eighteen hundred and forty nine Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court State of Maryland Issued and recorded on the 29th day of December 1849 By Joseph Redue Clk To the Clerk of Kent County Court I hereby certify that the bearer hereof a negro man now present called Hemsley Emory is the identical negro man who was manumitted by Ebenezer T. Massey by deed of Manumission dated the 31st day of December Eighteen hundred and forty nine duly executed and recorded in the office of the Clerk of Kent County Court said Hemsley Emory is about thirty five years of age about five feet ten inches high of black complexion T. G. H. Massey Jan 26th 1850 Filed and Recorded January 26th 1850 and certificate of Freedom issued as follows State of Maryland Kent County sct Joseph Redue Clerk of Kent County Court hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it appears by the records of Kent County aforesaid that a certain Ebenezer T. Massey of the said County by his certain Deed of Manumission bearing date |
